Blog promotion - BlogUpp > Blog Up

Blog promotion is very tricky. The easiest solution is to sign to different linking services but most of them don't support blogs and those strictly blog related aren't really good. Lately I found nice feature on BlogUpp. The rule is simple you make 10 people click on their banner they will send you 9 in return. That is almost 1:1 ratio, and I have to say it works brilliant. The site with your stats is easily accessible and you know how many users you send and how many you received.

Fast indexing

There are many sites out there saying how to get your site indexed in less then one hour, or even less than 20 min. I will write about quick indexing in my next post, but for now I will write about getting your page indexed for the first time. It is not that important what kind of a host you use. But when it comes to submitting your page to some catalogues, paid host have the priority. Some of the catalogues have restrictions on sites that are hosted for free which is not nice if you are starting your site without spending a cent.

To get your page indexed for the first time you have to submit it to search engines so that Google, Yahoo, MSN Search know that your page is out there. Submitting your page to "index" is nothing else than adding your page to Google or other search engine catalogue. So Google can only find pages that are indexed ("in catalogue"), that why submiting your page to search engines is so important. Enough said, lets start.

Search engines submit pages:

Google
Yahoo
Live Search - MSN

To get your site indexed can take from few hours to 2-3 weeks. The most important thing is that your site has some traffic and links pointing at it. The easiest way to get some traffic and links is to add your page to catalogue. The best known catalogue is DMOZ, getting your site in to the catalogue will get you hundreds when not thousands of new visitors. For other catalogues you have to look your self. Add your page and wait patiently.

If you want to check if your page is already indexed yo can type something like this in: site:www.example.com in every search engine. When it does not return any of the pages from your site you still have to wait.

The other important thing is to set your permissions on your host for search engines robots, that do crawl your web page.
If you have a blog on blogger you can add a META line saying that all robots are allowed. This line looks like this:

META NAME="ROBOTS" CONTENT="FOLLOW" - this will let robots to crawl every post on your blog

To gain some more control on indexing can apply for special services (Free), from Google and Yahoo.

Yahoo Site Explorer - Yahoo E-mail required
Google Webmaster Tools - E-mial required

Those services let you know if Yahoo or Google had some problems accessing your site, will tell you if your robots permissions are correctly set and when was your page last visited by a robot. You can also remove some pages out of Googles index, which is very helpful when a page with private data will be indexed and easily available for everyone using Google.

Google has a large set of Tools that will make your life easier:

Analytics will let you see all the statistics for your page, count of visitors, links that are leading to your site and much more.

Duplicated content!

As the war with Google is continuing I decided to by a second domain for my internet forum. That should give me more links and Kudos! So why am I writing all this stuff now?! Let me explain me that shortly: bought a domain -> parked it on my first domain -> read on google that i will lost my page rank and will be removed from google`s index for smth. called duplicated content!!!? WTF!!! I read about all the tricks how to trick google and found one simple solution 301 redirect thingy in .htaccess. Finally I found a guy who was thinking that google doesn't care for duplicate content and you are allowed to have two domains pointing at your web site, in this case it is harder for a good position for one of those as the links will spread on those two domains. So what is my experience with that? I parked a domain on another one, and got it indexed by google today! So don't see the problem!

How to make #1 on Google

Again, I have to say I don't know how to have the first position on google or any other search engine. I read many internet pages and didn't find a simple answer fo that. To be totally honest with you I couldn't find any good answer at all. But there was somebody who made a good point: the content of your site matters. Yeah, I now that but as I can see it doesn't matter for the others. I've seen so many crap internet pages beeing right at the top on google index, and I can't beleve that this is the only one thing that really maters. I do know what this person had on his mind, the content is ok, the more poeple will come to your page and automaticly you will improve your position in index. I think now i should make some other internet pages like, online gaming or just show tits on every page than I will make to the google`s top. With my interest in video editing and software, trying to help people on my site I won't have even 500 visitors a day, I know that, but why do my page is doing so badly in google´s index? I hope this one will cheer you up guys, and remember don't give up! As I'm still trying!

Up and running!

I can't say I was waiting long for that, but I wasn't completely aware of the method google is indexing web pages. I have to say today my little dream has come true! I tried to be de second right after the big name in this business and somehow I am. It is hard to explain all of that, cause I don`t really know what happened. Google indexed my web based forum and under two keywords that where very important to me I`m at the first place! I think That`s just to beautiful to be true. But I will see if this will give me some traffic coming to my site!

Google!

I still wait for google to index my page. I can already find links to my internet page on other pages but the page isn't indexed yet. You can see if it indexed by puting this in google "site:www.yourpage.com" in my case it will be site:www.blogindexed.blogspot.com If you want to see how many links are pointing to your internet page type: link:www.yourpage.com
